Need to take the chill off your bathroom or kitchen floor?

Electric Underfloor Heating for Tile & Stone Floors

Electric Underfloor Heating Makes Sense for Tile & Stone Floors

Tile and stone are beautiful but naturally cold. Electric underfloor heating transforms them into a warm, comfortable surface using responsive thin-bed mats that heat quickly, evenly and efficiently.

ARC Thermal supplies eFLOOR PRO, one of Europe’s most advanced electric heating mats - PFAS-free, ultra-thin and backed by up to 30-year warranties. Whether you’re renovating a bathroom, upgrading a kitchen or specifying a development, this system delivers premium performance with minimal build-up height.

WHICH POWER OUTPUT DO YOU NEED? (W/m²)

Different rooms need different wattages. We specify this manually - no guesswork.

Room Type / Purpose Output W/M² Reason
Warm Floor Only (high-insulation homes) 60–80 W/m² Gentle Comfort
Kitchens & Ensuites 100 W/m² Balances Performance
Bathrooms & Wetrooms 150 W/m² Fast, Reliable Heat
Cold Properties, spa, wellness 200 W/m² Maximum Response

We will always recommend the correct wattage during specification.

Why Electric Beats Wet Underfloor Heating System

Wet (hydronic) UFH can work well in new builds, but in bathrooms and kitchens it presents consistent challenges:

Faster warm-up

Electric warms tile surfaces within minutes. Wet systems heat water and screed first → slower response.

Minimal floor height increase

Wet UFH needs insulation, pipes, screed, manifolds... Electric mats add only millimetres.

No leak risk

Bathrooms are high-consequence environments. Electric UFH has no water, no pipes, no joints → no leak risk.

Cleaner installation

No screed depth requirements. No major floor changes during renovation.

Better retrofit suitability

Most UK homes cannot accommodate a wet UFH system in bathrooms - electric fits perfectly.

Installation Overview

Typical build-up:

1. Prepared subfloor

(Primed)

2. eFLOOR PRO heating mat

(self adhesive)

3. Flexible tile adhesive

4. Tiles / stone finish

Why installers choose it:

Self-adhesive mesh prevents movement

Cut-and-turn layout simplifies planning

Single Cold-tail design = fewer wiring steps

Stable mat geometry for even heating

PFAS-free conductor safer to handle

We always provide a room-by-room layout plan when required.

No. When installed with flexible adhesive, UFH has no impact on tile integrity.

Yes — eFLOOR PRO is IPX7 rated and ideal beneath waterproofing layers.

Most bathrooms require 150 W/m² for fast, reliable heat.

Often yes - depending on insulation and heat loss. We can calculate for you.

Yes. Insulation improves warm-up speed and reduces running costs.
